Layton was born in Bury in 1994. He began his career at the age of 12 securing himself the title role of Billy in London's Billy Elliot. Layton then made his debut TV appearance as Kylie in the BBC comedy Beautiful People. In 2009 Layton went back into the West End to play one of the original young Michael Jackson's in Thriller Live.
He is mostly known for his role as series regular Stephen in the BBC Comedy Bad Education playing opposite Jack Whitehall. In early 2015 Layton reprised his role in the Bad Education feature film.
In 2014 he joined Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures playing the role of Simon in the Lord of The Flies UK Tour and continued in the company to perform in the UK Tour/Sadler’s Wells production of The Car Man in 2015.
He most recently performed in the National Tour of Hairspray throughout 2015 and 2016.

Shanay is also a recording artist and songwriter recently selected as a BBC Introducing artist for her debut EP TIME. Her music has been played on BBC Radio 1, Capital and Kiss and her music videos have featured on MTV. During her burgeoning career Shanay has performed all over the world to crowds of tens of thousands including a record-breaking attendance at Wembley Stadium. Shanay would like to thank her husband, family & friends for their love and support and is thrilled to be performing in RENT - which has always been one of her favourite musicals.
Originally from the West Midlands, Katie trained at Laine Theatre Arts where she graduated with a National Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre and Dance. Since she has worked as a dancer/actress for various TV and Film projects, including playing the lead role of Hannah Foster in ITV’s Real Crime: Nowhere to Hide - The Story of Hannah Foster.
